How to Use the Paint Calculator
Follow these steps to calculate how much paint you need for your room.

Enter wall dimensions
For each wall, enter the height and width in feet. A typical room has 4 walls, but you can add or remove walls as needed.

Add windows and doors
For each wall, click "Add Window" or "Add Door" and enter the height and width of each opening. These areas will be automatically deducted from the wall area.

Enter ceiling dimensions
If painting the ceiling, enter the ceiling length and width. Check the "Include ceiling" box to add it to your total.

Set paint coverage
Enter the coverage rate from your paint can label (typically 350 sq ft/gallon for flat/matte, 300 sq ft/gallon for eggshell/satin). The default is 350 sq ft/gallon.

Review results
Click "Calculate Paint Needed" to see the net paintable area, gallons needed for 1 coat and 2 coats, and the number of gallon cans to buy for walls and ceiling separately.
