What is a Pregnancy Due Date Calculator?
A pregnancy due date calculator estimates the date your baby is expected to be born, typically 40 weeks (280 days) from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). This method, known as Naegele's Rule, is the standard used by obstetricians worldwide.
Pregnancy is divided into three trimesters: the first trimester (weeks 1–12) covers early development and the highest risk of miscarriage; the second trimester (weeks 13–26) is often the most comfortable period; and the third trimester (weeks 27–40) involves rapid fetal growth and preparation for birth.
Only about 5% of babies are born on their exact due date. Most arrive within a two-week window on either side. An ultrasound performed in the first trimester (before 14 weeks) provides the most accurate dating and may adjust the due date calculated from LMP.
How to Use the Pregnancy Due Date Calculator
Calculate your estimated due date and pregnancy milestones.
- 1
Enter the first day of your last period
This is the standard starting point for pregnancy dating, even though conception typically occurs about 2 weeks later.
- 2
Enter your average cycle length (optional)
If your cycle is not 28 days, adjusting this improves accuracy.
- 3
View your due date
Your estimated due date (EDD) is calculated as 280 days from your LMP.
- 4
Review your pregnancy timeline
The calculator shows your current week of pregnancy, trimester, and key milestone dates.
